back to music hahahaha
this one is by Queen. but it fits for this blog.
on March 29th I turned 29 years old in the states that is considered your golden birthday. Now i don't know if that makes it more special or not. to be honest i don't pay attention to stuff like that. but i am another year older, i don't know about wiser. but i have settled down a lot in the last year.
It is a little depressing not being able to celebrate another birthday with family and friends again. I am on another combat tour this time as most of you know to Afghanistan. Which for me is nothing new, that makes 3.
so another birthday is gone by, and i have a wonderful family and will soon have a little one to spend my time with. That is the biggest change i now have a wife with a kid on the way. I have to say i would not want it any other way. This last year has brought some wonderful things into my life. i cant wait to see what this year brings me. Hopefully more happiness and joy.

Sacrifice
As a soldier I am used to sacrifice. I have sacrificed a lot over the years, and there is more on the way as I have another 10 years left before i retire. I have learned first hand all the sacrifices that must be made as a soldier serving one's country.
I spend 20 years serving my country sacrificing time with family, and friends. Missing kids being born, missing holidays, and birthdays. watching friends killed, and injured. with all that and my 20 years of service to my country I get a pension that will just pay for my house payments.
On the other hand the people that we elect into office sacrifice nothing and get paid like 6 figures yearly, and vote yearly on a cost of living raise. Now i don't get to vote on anything concerning my pay. How is it that we allow these people to vote on their pay and retirement and benefits. When they sacrifice nothing and yet they can retire after one term with a wonderful pension. They get paid extremely well while they are in office, and by the time they get out they have the connection to get a very good job if they want it.
Now on to the reason I labeled this post the way i did. I read a very good book that i think has the right idea. That book is Starship Troopers by Robert Neinlin. Now its nothing like the movie, where its about the war with the bugs, the book is about politics. More importantly its about the belief that only those who have sacrificed for their country have the right to decide its future. What that means is that if you have not served in the military you do not have the right to vote or hold public office. Now i am behind that belief 100%.
With the current system broken Politicians spend more time wheeling and dealing and making things better for them. The current state of the economy and the fact that they have not voted to stop giving their over paid salary a raise shows that they are not willing to sacrifice for their country. With an economy in the toilet you would think they could sacrifice a little for their country, I guess not. Now they may choose to do this later on and if they do i will post another blog applauding them for that action.
My belief is that if we had soldiers who understood sacrifice and duty to ones country that made the decisions we would not be in the fix we are in now. Those soldiers understand how to make the diffuicult decision when they have to for the good fo the country. The people that have not served seem to forget that.
Its my opinion that we can revamp the current system and put people in charge that are willing to make that sacrifice and make the decisions that need to be made. If you dont like this idea then maybe you should join the military and serve your country. If you are not willing to sacrifice for your country how can you say you should decide the course your country should take. If you dont have the courage to serve you dont have the courage to make the hard decisions. Just my opinion.

I am impressed
I was reading the news this morning and apparently a reporter finally saw the light. Now this would be a first in my opinion. I have always considered reporters to be nothing more than useless tape worms that feed off of any story they can find, and if they can make it more depressing and disgusting they will do it with all their energy. just my humble opinion.
But today i read that a reporter pointed out that all the doom and gloom stories that populate the nightly news casts and news servers on the internet need to stop, that we need to find some stories that we can humanly cover. I thought this was great. We can finally see some stories about the good that is done on this world on a daily basis. There are so many good people that are doing good things that never get mentioned.
Most importantly we can finally stop hearing the same thing over and over about how this world is going to hell and there is nothing we can do about it (now I feel we can do something about it but that is a later blog) but we can here that there is light in this world and that not everything is going to hell.
Now those good stories are something worth reporting, hopefully the rest of them will catch on and follow his lead. Just my humble opinion.

time........
most people would say time is fixed it goes neither fast or slow but moves at a measured pace. I would say that person has never deployed before. I would say that time is perception, there are times you are looking at a clock all the time and the hands barely move. and there are times you are so busy that in between times looking at a clock it has sped by. And then you have the times when days and weeks blend together and you have no idea what the day or date is.
well, they days are starting to move faster. Its about time. That makes the deployment seem faster, even though its only a trick of the mind, but anything that makes it go faster is better for everyone here.
we have been making improvements around here and cleaning up A LOT. So it keeps everyone very busy. and that makes the time seem like its moving faster. The funny part is most of us cant remember what day or date it is. we just go from one day to the next doing what we do. and we loose track. we keep track of the time throughout the day because of the reports we have to turn in.
other then that its another day like the last one. but as long as they keep going fast i will be going home faster.
